 Merry Christmas to
you and your family from the DD Team! We're
celebrating our first festive season since the
site launched earlier this year and we're working
hard to make sure our members really have a ball
in the New Year.
We have big plans to
expand the site in 2009... new features... the
launch of The Great Office
Escape offering brilliant prizes
including an Australian Open Tennis travel and
accommodation package... and big events like the
2009 NSW Corporate Games, which
is not far away (March 19-22).
 Speaking of which,
we're hoping to grow our entry in next year's
Games from the 35 or so in 2008 to at
least 100, so please consider joining up,
playing your favourite sport and helping a
good cause (Diabetes Australia-NSW).
We're lookng to put together a winning
Dragon Boat team to 'go for gold'
and have started searching for 16 paddlers and...
a drummer! Heaps of fun and great
exercise so contact us any time if you're keen to

TRAINING FOR THE 2009 NSW CORPORATE GAMES, MARCH
19-22 2009
Around 35 DD members
including our wonderful Ambassador Elka Graham
(now Elka Whalan) represented us in this year's
NSW Corporate Games. We brought
home a swag of medals, finished 5th of 41
companies in our division and had an absolute ball
making new friends at the various sporting and
social events that are all part of the
Games.
In 2009 we're throwing out the
challenge to Optus (with their 400 entrants)... we
want at least 100 Double Drummers making their
presence felt and raising money for Diabetes
Australia-NSW. So... are you
in?
The deadline for guaranteed
entry is Thursday February 5, 2009 but entries
are open now so get yours in any time and make
sure you don't miss out on the fun. Choose from 22
sports (including new events
badminton and beach
volleyball) and join over 8,500
participants who'll compete for a good cause.
Remember, we're especially looking for 16 paddlers
(8 men and 8 women) AND a drummer (who'd have
thought?) for our tilt at the Dragon Boat title.

Seniors Card is a NSW Government
initiative, which encourages older people to enjoy
an active and healthy retirement. The scheme is
free to join for permanent residents of New South
Wales aged 60 or over and who work no more than 20
hours a week.

 We recently received
a suggestion from Lorraine... Switch the search
engine around so location comes before sport. I am
struggling to find any sports within 25km
radius..
Thanks Lorraine... you
will soon be able to search for any event,
activity or team within your area, by location.
From January 2009, Double Drummer will have a
'Find an Event or Activity' search feature
where members can post their own sporting events,
weekly social games, teams, etc. for people to
search and then join in the fun. |

Anna meets Ana
 DD co-founder Anna
Cosio has met 'the other Anna' - former World No.
1 and French Open winner, Ana Ivanovic. The
Serbian beauty is again likely to warm up for a
tilt at the 2009 Australian Open by training on
the Plexicushion surface at Giltinan's
Tennis Centre, North Manly (just 5 minutes from DD
Headquarters). Apart from the slight variance in
height and the fact that Ana plays right-handed,
the DD team didn't think there was too much
difference in the way both girls hit the ball -
(well...).

Ski Japan with Steve
Bradbury
DD Ambassador and
Australia's first Winter Olympics gold medallist,
Steven Bradbury has invited DD members to check
out his 'just opened' luxurious Aqua Alpine Hotel,
located in Hakuba in the Nagano region of the
Japan Alps. The Hotel is just 300 metres from
Hakuba's best ski resort - Hakuba Goryu.
If
you're thinking of skiing Japan this northern
winter, let us know... we're sure Steve would
